Bishops from Argentina and
Trinidad & Tobago will participate in the climate strikes happening this
Friday.
They’re standing up
for our common home because it’s
a powerfully good thing to do.
Will you join them?
Join the powerfully good Catholic movement for
creation.
There are as many ways to take
part in the global strikes this Friday as there are Catholic communities. Here are a few ideas:
- Hold an outdoor prayer
service with your creation care committee. Be sure to bring a sign so that
people know why you’re praying.
- Schedule a meeting with
your pastor and encourage him to send a letter about climate change to
your local legislator.
- Walk to your local park
and sing creation-themed hymns. Be sure to bring a sign.
- If you’d like to join an
existing event, just search for “May 24 climate strike” plus the name of
your location.
Need more inspiration? Here are
photos of Catholics in the March climate strike, which brought more than 1 million people into
the streets. This Friday’s action promises to be even bigger. Be part of this story by registering
your event now.
If you’d like one more reason
to join in, please remember that this Friday, the day of the strikes, is also
the fourth anniversary of Laudato Si’, where Pope Francis wrote, “I urgently
appeal . . . for a new dialogue.”
I can’t think of a
better way to take part in Pope Francis’ new dialogue than joining the big
global chorus this Friday.
