Mission Collaboration

A Grain of Wheat
By Luke Parker, S.J.C.

I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies,
it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."
John 12:24

Visiting with our Cluny Sisters in San Pedro, California, I delighted in the action I witnessed to embrace a new and promising future by going forth in new ways, stronger together, prophetic and bold in our missionary discipleship for a new world. ‘Going Forth Together’ is one of our Missionary Priorities calling us to collaborate with others in participating in the Mission of Jesus to evangelize, heal and liberate all peoples, especially the poor, the least, the lost and the last.

So today, in our Mary Star of the Sea Community kitchen, Cluny Sister, Mary Glynn, Cluny Associate, Colleen Kaveney and Cluny Collaborator, Maribel Celaya, began their baking of Irish Soda Bread for the Little Sisters of the Poor’s Holiday Boutique tomorrow.  By the end of the day they will bring 50 round loaves of bread for sale in support of our call to go forth together in joy of the gospel to all peoples.

I am grateful for the reminder of the simple ways we witness and collaborate in evangelizing through a ‘Cor Unum’ and collaboration as religious women, laity, religious communities and organizations - bearing much fruit together! Laboring in the one vineyard to bring about the Harvest of God here and now.

Join us in your own simple ways! Find ways to go forth together – all are called.
Come, all are welcome! Come, and let us bear fruit together!

We, Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, Province of U.S.A. & Canada, are called as Daughters of Anne Marie Javouhey, to bring hope and compassion to an anguished world.  We join with the Little Sisters of the Poor, to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.”
